***Eye spy...***

The following's a commissioned image for a poster/pamhlet at my current job. I'm hoping that they will be happy with this, meaning that I won't have to make any changes *crosses fingers*

***Blah-dee-friggin'-blah***

'lo all.

Not in the best of moods today -- I don't know if any of you other pencil scribblers out there get this but I tend to suffer from the aul' art blues...this is basically something that happens to me every now and then when I can't draw for shite. When I'm able to pull off a good pic, there is nothing in the world that can compare with the sense of self-worth and satisfaction it gives me, it really does make me feel like I do have a purpose...however, when I can't draw I suddenly feel like absolute and utter crap.

But then again, perhaps I'm just a whiny bitch.

Aaaaaanyhoo, I decided to take a (shhh) sicky from work this morning -- I just did not feel like going into that bloody soul-sapping factory job...granted it pays well but I would much rather be in a crap paying job that I'm actually happy doing over all the money in the world. So...I decided "Y'know what? Methinks since I have all these free hours to myself I should get out the sketch pad and get some serious drawing done!" So...there I was -- all set-up with a few reference books, a mirror, my pad, pencils, etc. -- sitting there drawing some stuff but I just kind of...I don't know...lost interest I suppose. I have a horribly short attention span...granted, once I really get into doing a picture, all time ceases to exist but I just don't think I could get myself into that proper 'left-brained' state today. So, in the end I just spent most of my day playing my Nintendo Wii and browsing the 'net. How productive.

The reason this pisses me off even more is due to the fact that I could have a chance at grabbing a really good paid art gig if I really focus on getting the job done, instead of sitting down typing out blogs about how pissed off I am.

Yeah...anyway, here's the only post-worthy pic from my random doodlings today:

Gurntacular!

I'm pretty burned out right now (a few too many late nights) so this is all I could manage to get done this evening. Pretty much everything you see here is done with the help of a mirror -- I just pull some silly faces and try to transfer them to the page. I do try and use reference photos sometimes but for some reason I prefer using a mirror, perhaps it's because of the added sense of depth you get compared with a flat photograph.

My fingers bleed with pleasure...

...thanks to the fact that after many, many hours I have finally completed this CG and am glad to see the end of it. All of the flats and shading were done in Flash, the added lighting and rendering was done through Photoshop.

He who laughs last...

Yet another photoshopped image by yours truly. I'm quite surprised at how relatively quickly (for me anyway) I was able to get this done -- I'd love to see what CGing with a proper graphics tablet would be like rather than having to use the mouse...my CGing times would probably be halved at the very least.
Uh Um Duhr Luh!!!

Got the bastard finished, took me long enough too...been working on this since 6pm today and finished up just before 12am. My first CGing job in friggin' ages and even though it's not mind-bogglingly gorgeous looking I'm still pretty happy with what I've done here.

So...there yerz goes...a colour piccy. By me. Yes siree...

Dredd-ful Preview

Not much of an update today I'm afraid. My crappy job has me absolutely wrecked so all I could manage to crank out today were some digital colours for my Judge Dredd pic. So far, I've laid down most of the flats and will probably add the shading and highlights tomorrow -- nothing too fancy mind...I want to make this a quick and cheerful colour job.

I had a mad craving to do a pic of the great Judge Dredd so I decided to do the following:
A bit of a change from my usual cartoony style, eh? I don't know how long I'm going to stick with this style of drawing (I'm unusually fickle when it comes to the styles I use) but I must say that it is quite enjoyable (if a bit strenuous at times).

Well hello there.

I've been away for quite a long while now, haven't I? I won't go into specifics but needless to say that I need to get my arse into gear with updates -- I'm hoping that I can start updating this blog of mine a lot more often now, so without further ado...NEW ART INITIATE GO!
