While my sketchbook gently weeps

Alas, poor sketchbook, I knew ye well...

So, just finished doing my laundry, I open the washing machine door and look what pops out: one of my moleskine sketchbooks, by criminy! I must've left it in my jacket pocket.

Luckily, this one wasn't packed full of drawing gems so I'm not overly gutted by this -- in fact, if this thing dries out well, it'll look quite dapper in an old-timey-dusty-tome kinda way. Live and learn, I suppose.

BOOM! THOOM! WAKOOM!

Thought I'd let you lot see a preview of one of the panels from the upcoming, exciting second part of Blackstar. Mike, the trusty scribe, knows my love for explosions so he kindly wrote in many opportunities for drawing crazy pyrotechnics.

Lovely.

Blackstar character sketches.

Richard J. Smith's 'Uncle Swifty.'

I won't even attempt to explain this. Just watch this video...

Aaaaand last, but certainly not least, Bob Byrne's character 'Mister Amperduke' from the fantastic book by the same name.

DS Love

Just a quick update today.

It's looking likely that I'll be working on an 8 page comic for possible submission to Zuda comics based on a script by the talented Dave Hendrick. I don't want to give away much at the moment but I absolutely love what I've seen of the story so far, it's right up my alley. So, yeah, looking forward to working on that for definite. Between that and the third part of Blackstar, I'm going to be quite busy!

Oh, and here's a quicky. I did the following on my trusty DS using a the great homebrew application 'Colors.' Granted, this image isn't exactly brilliant or anything but it was nice to experiment. Another nifty little feature is that you can save your images and export them to your PC/Mac. Nice.

This app amazes me with what it can do and I'll look forward to messing around with it in future -- plus, it's yet another excuse to take my DS everywhere with me :)

MMBRRLLOH

I should have posted this up when Ty posted it last week. This is basically a collab between me, Neil, Kate and Ty. Ty did the layouts, Neil drew in details for 'The Fish' (the main guy) while I drew the details for the wife and touched up the inks on 'The Fish.' Kate then proceeded to draw in details on the sign and the background. Overall a very fun experience.

Don't know who the Fish is? I don't really want to get into it now but during the FanExpo, he was sitting directly across from us pretty much stealing everyone's customers with his oh-so-'fantastic' inking work. Bah.

Anyways, this image was a way to expel some demons for the lot of us :)

Doodles Schmoodles

I did the following during my day trip to Niagara Falls yesterday (nice spot by the way which mixes the loveliness of nature with the brashness of a seaside resort -- think Tramore in Ireland but about a million times more brash). Nothing special, just some head sketches and doodles to keep me occupied both on the train and while waiting for the train at the end of the day (by which time I was about ready to pass out).

Anyhoo, here you go!
